Here's an idea. John said he was working on a demo routine for the pay version of TotalRekall. Why not extend that capability for things built on TotalRekall?
I'm planning to build a real-estate package and I'd like to give a demo capability; but from what I've seen, anyone who has a full copy of Rekall can get to the source code or modify the program. It would be interesting if the package could be locked down so that I could, for instance, give demo copies to potential customers.

I may be possible to add a feature to allow a developer to encrypt before it is saved and reverse the operation on loading. Since Rekall is released under a dual licensing scheme we could add this feature to a Rekall Pro version. This version's source code would not be available for download. Also we could make it so that Rekall generates a random encryption/decryption key and stores it in a file. This way only the people who you give the key file to would be able to decrypt the data. And, if you generate a new key for each customer, only that particular customer could decrypt the data. The only problem with this idea is that it would be a nightmare to keep track of which file belongs to which customer. You could over come this problem by storing customer/key information in a separate database which is maintained by yourself

How much would you charge (on a consulting basis) to add this functionality to Rekall 2.2.1 for both Windows and Linux? This is something I may need rather quickly (pending contract approval - I'm talking first or second quarter 2005) and don't have time to wait for a release. I could do this myself but don't want to spend the money on the commercial version of Qt I'd need to compile this and be clear with regards to licensing.
